Michelle Massey Named 2021 ATHENA Leadership Award Recipient

Lansing, MI – Michelle Massey, vice president of community outreach and customer support at TechSmith, was recognized on Dec. 2 as the recipient of the 2021 ATHENA Leadership Award. Massey was honored by the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) at the annual ATHENA Awards luncheon, which took place at the Michigan State University Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing.

The ATHENA Leadership Award is presented annually in over 500 communities internationally. It recognizes individuals for professional excellence, providing valuable service to the community and actively assisting women in attaining professional excellence and leadership skills.

“I am honored to be the recipient of the 2021 ATHENA Award. It is wonderful to be recognized for doing good in a community that I am passionate about,” said Massey. “Our community is one of creativity, opportunities, and vision. I am grateful I have been able to participate in and lead initiatives that have impacted business and the community. Receiving this award is humbling because there are so many others committed to the Lansing region and doing great things.”

Michelle Massey serves as the vice president of community outreach and customer operations for TechSmith. Massey has over 25 years of information technology industry experience, along with extensive experience in community engagement, business operations, corporate planning, support, and proposal development.

Her current responsibilities include growing the philanthropic impact in K-12 education and engagement into STEM fields for underrepresented and underserved communities. In addition, she is responsible for TechSmith’s customer and technical support teams to maximize the impact of the customer support experience for customers.

Before joining TechSmith, Massey worked at Dewpoint, where she was responsible for business development, marketing, and charitable contributions. Massey assisted in managing Dewpoint’s overall brand and the organization’s corporate image through marketing, public relations, and community involvement.

”A strong supporter of the Lansing region, Massey has sat on boards for Ele’s Place, the Sparrow Foundation, and Michigan State University Museum. She is currently on boards for the Lansing Art Gallery and Education Center, LRCC, and Wharton Center.Massey earned her bachelor's degree in communications/telecommunications and her master's degree in international telecommunications from Michigan State University.
