ATHENA Valley of the Sun, a nonprofit
based in Mesa, is honoring outstanding woman business leaders and young
women in our community at the “ATHENA Leadership Awards – Honoring
ATHENA Inspired Leaders” on April 4 from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the
Marriott Tempe at the Buttes. The organization has announced a call to
sponsors to invite local businesses to participate in the event which
will feature a special presentation by honoree and American
businesswoman, ambassador and former United States astronaut: Barbara
According to Dr. Kristine Quade,
President of ATHENA Valley of the Sun, “This is an event of
‘Celebration, Education and Inspiration’ to applaud not only the
remarkable lifelong achievements of Ambassador Barbara Barrett, but to
also recognize our 6 other ATHENA Leadership Award winners who were
selected by local business leaders and our young ATHENA candidates who

Businesses can participate by sponsoring a
table, through the purchase of a ticket for a valued woman in their
organization and through monetary donations to the ATHENA Foundation.

ATHENA Valley of the Sun is the new
independent Arizona Chapter of Athena International. Since the program’s
inception in 1982, more than 7,000 exemplary leaders in over 500
communities across the world have received the prestigious ATHENA Award.

ATHENA International Selects A
New President and Executive Director, Andrea Stevenson Conner.
Chicago, IL (October 26, 2016) – ATHENA International,
a non-profit organization, that seeks to support, develop and honor women
leaders, is pleased to announce their new president and executive director, Andrea Stevenson Conner. Conner brings
over a decade of nonprofit experience to the organization through her extensive
work to achieve gender equality and social responsibility from the sandbox to

Prior to working at ATHENA International, Conner served with UN Women China in

strategy for gender equality built through collaborative relationships between
public and private partnerships.
